digital desk, New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested an enforcement officer of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and another person in Haryana for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh.

In a statement here, the investigating agency said that a case has been registered against the accused on a complaint of demanding bribe of Rs one lakh from the complainant.

It was alleged that even though the complainant had deposited all the dues relating to provident fund for the period November, 2018 to July, 2019 in respect of the employees of his firm, the EPFO ​​of Jagadhri (Haryana) had filed the Civil Procedure Code. , 1908, the investigation was initiated against the complainant’s firm.

The CBI further said that during that investigation the enforcement officer of EPFO ​​had asked the complainant to approach some other person to get clearance in that investigation.

While doing the same the complainant met the person who had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh on behalf of the enforcement officer for settling the investigation.

Thereafter, the CBI laid a trap and caught the private person while accepting and demanding bribe from the complainant at the instance of the enforcement officer.

“The enforcement officer has also been apprehended and the premises of the accused are being searched at Jagadhri in Haryana,” the probe agency said.

Both the accused will be produced in the court on Wednesday.
